Film editing ideas

Throughout the course of which my film plays, I've had some ideas on visualisng different styles for it. As it is a Post-Modern concept, I have the upper hand on playing wih the genres.
  • One concept I noticed on several media products is the use of placing big, bold keywords as the film plays. Examples of this includes films such as:
Scott Pilgrim vs. the world - This film is created to look exactly like pages from a graphic novel. So keywords and images are displayed to show understanding for the audience about small subjects that are hinted at briefly.

  • A huge amount of films use "after effects", especially for filters to change the films images from bright to dull. My film, if any filters were to be included, woud be presented with saturated colours, to appear dusky. An example of good filtering would be:

The Matrix - When in the computer world within the Matrix, the entire film gets a slight green tint. And when in the real world, it returns to default. Therefore it establishes where and what the characters within the film are up to, and you will always be infromed what world they are in.
These are just ideas that I'm concucting, I may not neccessarily come back to these ideas, as they may have disastrous effects on my film.

Prop still images

These are some images of my signature props and costuming pieces to be used for my illustrated characters within my film:

These cyberpunk goggles will establish eye augmentations for the Drone/antagonist within my film. A possible first person camera view seems good to use while showing a HeadsUp-Display, so that the audience will recognise whose eyes they're seeing through.

This respiratory mask is also for the drone, and will be placed to cover the nose and mouth as a breathing apparatus. I specifically required this prop so that most of the face for the character will not be recognisable, and will show how society has transformed horrifically.
This head scarf is able to cover the nose and mouth for the protagonist "Jonathan Stanston", to conceal his identity from the public. This scarf will show how the character makes simple decisions to hide from bad events.

Both characters will be wearing casual clothing that the actors would wear on a daily basis. Since this will be specific for the winer season, both characters will be costumed with over-coats, jumpers, etc...

This presentation was uploaded with Speakerdeck.com, and made with Microsoft Powerpoint 2010.

Filming (Voice Recording) - 06/11/2012

I now have all visual clips ready for editing. And now I just have to cover the audio track over the video, for there to be any narrative given for my film. I recored with my 2 actors either side of the microphone in a quiet space and prepared the scripts in front of them on a computer monitor. There were a few minor hiccups during recording, but the necessary clips have been created. I recorded 30 clips in order, which took longer than predicted, and some lines were read not up to standard, so plenty of repetitions were made.

Filming - 03/11/2012

I already have my most detailed section filmed and prepared for editing, so the 2nd part of my filming would have to be for establishing shots of the city itself. For this to work as I imagine it, I would have to travel to the city centre, and capture aspects of; tall buildings, crowds of people, and urban lighting.
I captured 29 scenic shots for detailing the city area. Most shots were taken around the Norwich castle, which stands at the very centre of the city, with huge city landscapes in every direction.                               The next step would be to record dialogue and a narration for my city landscapes montage.

Filming - 01/11/2012

I began filming my project after completing my storyboard and establishing my animatic for the project.
I filmed in the rural areas of Norwich - a medium sized city centered in Norfolk, United Kingdom. I got combinations of urban/suburban housings and plenty of modern day establishing shots, which all presented my time period, as modern.
I achieved approximately 41 shots, though not all were correct and, at most, accurate. some were poorly filmed, had errors in continuity, and the actors corpsed during filming.
I feel that I succeeded in my goal to establish a group of shots that would create a continuous stream of a chronological film.
