Storyboard Poster design (Concept - Early Production)

When taking photographs of film stills and presenting work of visual display, I was given an opportunity to edit one image into a concept poster, to give myself an initial idea of advertising. (To be continued ofcourse)

Personalised Storyboard - 'Last Man on Earth'

My self-generated idea for an interpretation of different settings/characters/narrative, etc... for 'Last Man on Earth'. Below are early concepts for my creation.

Tzvetan Todorov's Narrative Structure

Following the basis of Todorov's Narrative Structure, I incorporated the rules into one of my easily conceived films: FIGHT CLUB.
To incorporate the structure will help my future ideas for short-films.

  1. Equilibrium - State of normality.
  2. Disruption - State of normality is distraught, meaning something other worldly has occurred.
  3. Recognition - Disruption is recognised.
  4. Attempt to Repair - Disruption is being repaired to return to an equilibrium.
  5. New Equilibrium - A New state of normality with changes.

And below is my self-generated interpretation of the storyboard for the short-film:

I wanted to compare ideas between this short-film and the concept of my own. As critics and reviews for 'Last Man on Earth' are more than good, I have decided to share the narrative structure between the two, but, as for my generated idea, I will differ to extraordinary lengths to make them obvious in a difference.

Short Film Script (First Draft)

Last Man on Earth - Luke Anderson
Narrator: It's been... almost six months since... the world... my world changed. Everything was once, so alive... lights, people, annoying neighbours, everything! Now the whole world is a ghost town, with the name: zombie written on every house address.

Insane citizen: Where are YOU! (Groaning).

Narrator: So here I am, hiding like a fly, and cowering from a predator who's desperately hungry for his main course. Right now I'd just raided another shop for enough sustenance to survive another week of hiding in the dark. If I wasn't alone I wouldn't cry myself to sleep every night, and at least I'd have someone to listen to the crap that comes out of my mouth. Then again, with nobody else but yourself to look at for, it's a little easier to remain alive for longer, even if that would make you an embarrassment!

Insane citizen: Come out! I'll help where you need to go!

Narrator: Trusting these guys is THE biggest mistake you can make. That guy alone has pulled in hundreds, if not, of poor souls throughout the past few weeks. Someone's dad. An uncles niece. Even a baby girl. They're only hungry to kill, and they're always pissed out of their minds. Aside from backtracking, I'm still in a dilemma here! And like a fly, it's time for me to go back to my turd.

-The narrator flees, with the insane citizen close in pursuit. The narrator manages to blur his trail from the pursuer, but collides with a mysterious figure. Not recognising if it's human or not, they both run together. Its remains unknown to the audience if the narrator escapes safely or not.

Within this script, I wanted to create a genre that fits a Noir, with concepts such as; Anti-hero, Villain, City, and some use for iconography, though some of these can only be displayed in motion and not written.

Short Film Stills (Early production stage)

These are prototype images from a test short-film which I am interested in designing. All are exact to their storyboard concepts.
